bumping an old thread to see if anyone has the length of hose needed for the oil filter housing to thermostat line? Going to re-use my stock ends like others have done. Many thanks in advance.

I put this in the oil madness thread as well. I had a new thermostat to filter pipe delivered today and it shipped with plastic reinforcement around the area that kinks. I guess we will see if it works when I fit it.

This was 10 years ago so I don't know if the quality of the OEM hose would have been better back then but I'm cheap and what I made is indistinguishable from the factory part.
Usually a hydraulic shop will do this work and it ends up being very cost effective.

Hello FFC,

Can you make more pictures from the other side of the plastic thing which on the oil-line ?
Is it removable ?!
I want to know if it is possible to source this plastic thing and put it around my oil-line which also has this kink in it.
So Porsche finally admit there is a problem with this oil-line...

Thank,

Dick964

Fwiw...for those of you planning to re-use your ends on that line from the filter housing to the thermostat- if you order 4ft of hose from elephant- that is the exact amount of hose you need...so it's kinda perfect since they sell it by the foot. Order that and then just have a hydraulic shop install with crimps and good to go if you clock it the same as when it came off.

Now- getting the hose to route correctly behind the oil tank???? That hose is really stiff...not fun. A pot of boiling water could help...

Yes, it movable up the whole length of the hose, its best described as a plastic spiral, like what you get on books or leaflets but bigger
