New Guy on the Block
Like most guys and girls I have been lurking around Rennlist for some time now. Finally, I pulled the plug and signed up for an account.
So, my 964 story began back in January of 2015 when I purchased an 89 Guards Red, Porsche Carrera C4 with 86k. My search was on and off for about a year prior to my purchase. I was watching the air cooled prices go up, and up, and up. I decided it was now or never. Initially, I debated between a 996tt or 964. The overall look of the 964 and the sound of the air-cooled motor made the decision easy.
I’ve been a VW/BMW guy for years. I had a MK4 Jetta that I did a R32 swap, air suspension, cage, full R32 interior, and an endless list of other bits. I bought the car new back in 2001 so it was bitter sweet when I let her go a few months back. Proudest moment of ownership was when the car was featured in PVW June 2013 issue, (Performance VW Magazine). The article was dubbed “Golden Touch.”
I also own an 82 BMW 320i, which has taken a back seat to the 964. I have a thing for older pieces of metal. Growing up my pops had one so while guys were chasing the e30 m3 I picked up an e21.
Since I’ve owned the car I’ve only done minor maintenance. Most of the work that has been done is cosmetic. Aero mirrors, and handles; paint correction, Rotiform/H&R Deep coilovers; and Rotiform STR wheels.
This is an awesome community and I look forward to learning from all of you. Please feel free to comment and offer suggestions.
Thanks

Welcome, Pat!
The C4 is great and yours looks super clean.
Since you've had it for a year, have you flushed/bled the brakes, hydraulic system, and diff locks?
It's important preventive maintenance for the C4.
What part of the world are you from? There are probably local 964 guys who can help you out if you have any issues.

I remember that for sale pic...Brooklyn? New Jersey? Looks just like a car we looked at in Brooklyn not long ago. Hope it turns out well for you. Judging by the architecture you gotta be somewhat close to us...

Glad you finally made a thread for yourself on here, another tri-state 964 added to the mix. Your mk4 was probably one of my favorite mk4 builds I've seen in person. This other one from C&C.

Congrats on the nice ride. Lots of red ones popping up on this forum lately. Glad to see another good looking one and what seems in great hands. Plus, a few people making their way from the VAG scene into 964's. I guess you graduate with age :P I had a galactic blue mk4 jetta 1.8T nowhere near as clean as yours. Mine was all go no show.
