Default Advice needed using Harbor Freight leak tester

I am attempting a leak test. Ran engine so it was warm. Set engine to TDC. Attached the Harbor Freight adapter in the spark plug socket to perform test, but it can't be seating well because I show no leakage on gauge but can here slight hissing air leak right at the fitting in the spark plug port. Advice from anyone who has used the HF tester would be appreciated.

JMHO,....

If thats a HF tester, replace it with a Snap-on one as the former ones are just junk.

There are some things hf tools are ok for. Measuring devices I'm not sure are at top of list.

I used it after putting my engine together on the stand - to make sure rings and valves got seated right before installing engine in to car. Tool served purpose.

Pple love to hate HF , but if you know what you are doing and have reasonable expectation from tool accuracy it should be fine.

That said my tool had no problems with sealing that you are describing, double check your connections and exchange at store if it is deflective.
