Ducktail install question

Hey guys,

Need to know if I should use the spacers that where used on the factory lid with my new duck?

I don't know...but it looks great. Can I ask where you got your duck?

PNine64 02-18-2016 08:30 PM

Looks great. I've got one on the way myself (Stratton). Looking forward to getting it here! Please post pics as you go. I'd be interested to see what how things go.

It's a Rennspeed.

Nice! Would love to see how the fitment is. Please chime back to let us know. Can I ask how much you paid for it? Thinking of getting one for mine. Thanks

Did you mock it up yet? I ended up using them to get the lid to sit flush with the car. You might not need them.

DobermanDad 02-18-2016 11:40 PM

I'm working on mocking it up, didn't know if I need to use those spacers, I'm kinda thinking they are unique to each lid. Gonna try to fit it tomorrow and see where I'm at. After that prep and paint it. Drilled holes for the grill yesterday. Pretty happy with how it fit. Al, really did a good job on the grill.

Rey Gun they're just under $500 and are made to fit 964s without a bracket.

I had to use a shim on the right side. Actually the initial fit was horrible on my rennspeed tail but after deleting the shocks and adding a shim it sat well.

Nice grille. Where did you get that?

rsabeebe 02-19-2016 09:32 AM

like that grill also. who makes it?

DobermanDad 02-19-2016 09:48 AM

Thank you. Grill is made by Al Kosmal owner of X-Faktory.

Another question regarding the shocks. Is it ok to only use one? Seem too would be way to much for such a light lid.

Or maybe I could just make something like a hood prop to hold it up.

From my experience even one shock provides too much pressure on one side of the lid causing fitment to be thrown out of wack. I was trying to have a center mounted mini shock but there was not much support to mount it.

Two shocks is absolutely too much. It was slingshotting the trunk lid upon opening.

DobermanDad 02-19-2016 02:54 PM

So did you end up just removing both and using a prop or some sort?

Correct. I have removed both shocks. I just use a stick to prop it open when needed.
