Default RS carpets quality choice

HI guys ,
I am ordering RS carpets from Appiz ,
Should I go for lightweight plush or Perlon felt ?
I understand the Perlon looks more basic and suit more the early cars ...

I'm ordering the lightweight plush. It feels more durable, and as you mentioned, looks more appropriate in the later cars. Call Bob, he'll send you sample swatches.

This place is about 15 mins drive from me, so I went over there and looked at the product. FWIW this is a legit operation, use die presses to cut everything out, and big stacks of product everywhere... nice guys too.

Anyway, the perlon is similar to the felt material in the trunk of the earlier 911 cars. That is, it's very thin, and a felt type material. The lightweight plush isn't really very plush, but it's a much nicer carpet and the weight difference for an installed full set is about 1lb more than the perlon felt. The sliver knit is the higher end material that looks identical to the OEM carpet and is much heavier.

I ordered the lightweight plush for mine.

I installed the sliverknit last summer. The whole carpet set couldn't weigh more than 2 lbs. i wouldn't consider weight when buying the carpet.

Sliverknit is the oem carpet i.e. What originally comes with the car. It wears well and is not that long.

Silverknit is like a sweater, mouldable to any shape. Perlon less so.

After the misery (still got the scars on my knees!) of a full carpet & soundproofing de-content, I had Gamroth install Bob's lightweight plush in my ex 964 (now Mooty's). Looked a treat. Put Rennline Cup boards in too - Bob's your uncle & Fanny's your aunt ...

I'd look into Lakewell's carpet kits too.

They come in all the original colors and are perfect matches, they have RS rear kits in colors other than back.

I'd also recommend sliverknit, it is oe and very light and very easy to work w/

Looks good, what did you use for a tray on the back console under the dash? I've been toying with the idea or putting a little tray there to hold stuff.

I've watched this thread with interest and have just ordered an RS set from Lakewell - OE Black with Gray flecks (5FV). My interior has been stripped whilst the car undergoes extensive work and the carpet set does not look good enough to go back in. A friend speaks highly of Lakewell's quality and the detail finishing on the mats looks excellent.

€686 so £544 seems reasonable to me.

I'm scared if I strip mine, I won't want to put in any back on haha! Looks so good with the carpet off.
