Looks fantastic. I've driven some of those roads 6-7 years back although it was in an old beater with a few rucksacks in the back not a Porsche
Myself and now wife, climbed to the very peak of Taranaki on a pre-dawn climb - well worth the effort. We too have a print of a painting hanging on the kitchen wall.

I have great memories of driving my C4 in and around the 'Naki. Some great roads perfectly suited to the surefootedness of the all wheel drive. I was also fortunate to have a fantastic view of the mountain from the cockpit every day on the way out to the Maui field. Enjoy the drive John!!

Day one of our Driving the Long Way road trip. Sublime back road run following a '70 T with a 3.2 engine. Sorry about the sound. It is what it is

Hey John, any pics or stories from your road trip? I've been eagerly waiting!

I have put a few pics up, but it’s far easier to post on FB.

Tomorrow we get up at 5am, go out to the airport and fly back down to New Plymouth where our cars have been stored for the week. Two more people are joining us so we’re up to eight in the convoy. The day will consist of 305km of winding rural roads taking about 5 hours. I will have the window down, revs up and soak in the glorious flat six as it echoes off the valley walls. Hopefully I’ll get some of it on GoPro to share.

Group drives with other Porschephiles are the best! The smell of flat six and empty road in the morning...

Awesome! Man those roads look great and I love the look of a dirty 911 for some reason! I'd love to be able to do something like this! Enjoy

Can't post pics on the iPhone garage talk app so this post will have to be a link to a video.

As part of my modding work I put a lamp into the gauge slot that signals PDAS activation. On the open road it goes off on any bump. On this gravel road it was on a lot. I'm torn between liking the knowledge it's working and wondering how useful the info is.

Road trip footage. Following a track prepared Cayman.

BTW I have given up trying to get good sound as the wind and road noise quickly overpowers the engine noise. I've left it as is because some people are offended by music.

1,350km of back road driving is over. The memories last long after the dirt (cow muck) is washed off.

I have just landed back in New Zealand after an 11 day vacation in California, where the first four days were attending Rennsport Reunion VI. While there I picked up an order of parts for the C4 and my track oriented Boxster.

I dont trust my thinking or motor skills when jet lagged so I did an easy fit first up, a new water reservoir cap. USD 1.50.

I've tackled that project myself John. Not for the faint hearted

Sounds like you had a great trip, what goodies have you brought back for the 964?

28kg of the finest Porsche steel i.e. a full set of Porsche Brake rotors. A real pain to bring in luggage (US Authorities inspected the bags they were in) but it saved a fortune in freight etc. Those will be installed with two new sets of PFC08 brake pads.

I also bought a new spoiler curtain and rubber sealing strip that connects next to it. As soon as I get the spoiler repainted it’s going to be as new.
