Full leather and sport seats. Great find. Excited to see what you’ll do with it for spec racing.

The owner started the car, I had a quick look at the body, made sure I fitted (6’ 4”) and that the top worked, then we shook hands on the deal. Essentially I bought the seller. There will be some warts, there always are, but it’s going to be a race car so I’m not stressing. Nice if it has some leather. I didn’t check :/

No real work happening on my car or my friend’s engine right now. It’s now four months since I was sent a 4KV (Marine Blue) carpet kit for a 993 in error, and have been patiently waiting for more carpet to become available to obtain the correct 964 set. Apparently that’s now happened so I hope the kit is sent before the Europeans go on their big Summer holidays. I try to remain calm in these matters. There is not one regular supplier I’ve not had issues with over the years and all have been sorted, in the end.

One thing that is reliable (so far) is AliExpress. $7 for the hard to find 7mm flare spanner for bleeding the clutch slave and diff locks and $47 for an Idle Stablisation Valve. The latter is identical to the far more expensive Bosch one. Given the latters quality issues with coils I have no compunction fitting after market parts if they work.

One disadvantage of being far away from the rest of the Porsche world is that sellers are reluctant to ship bulky items so we miss out on the good deals. I’ve had this problem with Boxster hard tops and 964 decklids. However, luck is on my side with the decklid as I’ve found a local seller willing to leave his car with me while I strip out the mechanical and electrical items to make my spoiler work again. He’s not selling his decklid or spoiler so I hope my spoiler isn’t compromised.

I’m sure you are. I’m getting there. I thought I was going to see the spoiler assembled but the seller delivered boxes of bits, so I had to do it according to the workshop manual, which is useless. I’ve got a few extra washers so I’ll sort those out tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the spoiler I had painted turned out to be missing the flange for the curtain (previous owner had cut it off ) so I had to buy the seller’s Guards Red spoiler. More painting to do. The seller also sold me the boxes that go under the seat. This is a real mission, but the goal of a working spoiler is worth it.

Back road run in the Boxster this morning. A couple of 964 turbos turned up. I managed to keep up, just.

Adjustments to make, painting requires and a spoiler curtain to source but it's great to see the car back closer to original.

Don't forget the gasket at the top of the curtain, if it's missing on the new spoiler.

That it would be it, yes. The part may have been superseded to #993-512-533-00 (I believe that is what I ended up with from the dealer), and had to trim it a touch. For some reason that had disappeared on mine (like a lot of other parts...) and I wanted to be thorough for the curtain replacement.
