So while I was in there...I noticed the shroud cover was torn...why Porsche can't see fit to make one of these that doesn't break itself, is beyond me. So rather than spending yet another pile of money on a non-critical part that will fail in short order....I got out the black silicone, and let's see how black silicone (high temp oven gasket fix) works over time. My guess is this part will be entirely black silicone by the time it's done deteriorating.

If nobody buys the 993 pedal box from you try swapping it's spring onto your 964 pedal assembly.

Porsche used the same thermal paste you put between a CPU and a heatsink on a computer motherboard. I think it was more about heat transfer than it was electrical insulation?

Interesting...didn't know that...thanks Jason.

Looks like I'll have to go get some thermal paste. Makes sense.

Ok...so took out the heater blower motor and popped out the ignition modules and replaced the thermal grease...

How does it run with the new coils?

Perfect.

Essentially this is not really an upgrade. The 993 coils do the same thing as 964 coils. They just do it more reliably over time. At least, this is the supposition. I'll know if I don't go trough another three sets of coils over the next six years like I did the last six...

After my ignition issues I'm going to just sit on my old Bosch coils for now. But when they give up the ghost I'll be sure to swap in these 993 coils.
Good looking work as always Goughary.

Is there a possibility that old wires and plugs could stress the coils as is suspected in Cayennes etc?

Old wires could be the case. But with so many 964 guys having issues and only rarely seeing 993 having issues...I'm going with "better design" or "better production" for the 993 coils.

Years ago- coils rarely failed. You see old 911 all the time with the old blue Bosch coils that they have been running for decades...the new silver coils suck.

The spotted owl...

Needs a reinforced engine carrier, clutch master and slave and the hard line between. And while we are at it, the sills are being painted white...

New master and slave went into the owl. Plus the hard line the runs through the tunnel to the slave. The rear most fitting was seized, so that had to go. Making it new again one bit at a time. The clutch is buttery smooth now...

Sills next and all done.
