Default Replacing crankshaft seal....with sealant?

I have been working on fixing the timing chain cover leaks and have the back end of the car taken apart. After removing the crank pulley, there appears to be some traces of oil leaking from the crankshaft seal.

While the leak does not look substantial, this is one of those "while-you-are-in-there" type of things.

My question is this: when installing the new seal, is it advisable to apply some kind of sealant?

If so, what kind and which surface?

Thanks

I am interested in this too, replaced mine and it continues to leak
Are there any recommendations for manufacturer of the seal?

Is this the 'nose' bearing leak? If so I'm told that there is a sleeve option. http://www.mobileworkswest.com/forsale911.html

I had seen this link before, thanks,

I'm not sure, the crank case split isn't leaking anywhere else, so I can't see what this does.
Does anyone know what the ring achieves please?

I did not use any sealant when replacing mine (and it's not called for in the factory workshop manual). No leaks.
Make sure you check the runout of the harmonic pulley when you reinstall it. That procedure is also in the workshop manual.
