(re-)Introduction + a silly question
Hi All,
I joined Rennlist a couple of years ago when I bought my first Porsche, a black 1989 964 Carrera 4, and was impressed by the help and feedback I got rapidly from this forum.
Unfortunately, my car started developing problems shortly afterwards, including a leaky distribution which once fixed led to the discovery of further leaks (in my mechanics words - "where is it leaking? Everywhere..."). So after a little soul-searching & a lot of savings, I had a full engine rebuild done by a specialist near to where I live in Switzerland (a sample of pictures attached)... Best money I ever spent, until one drive in awesomely heavy rain about 500km after the rebuild, the car went down on power, bucking and running rough.
With the help of previous Rennlist discussions and my mechanic's over-the-phone diagnosis (he was on holiday), I swapped out the ignition coils and ignition control modules this afternoon and the car has come back to life - immediate start, idling smoothly.
However, I removed the heater blower to gain access to the ignition coils and when I came to put it back I saw a strange uncovered connector behind the fuse box which I have no memory disconnecting (round shape, three plugs four holes, see picture attached) - does anyone know what this is? Should it be reconnected, and if so to what?
Any ideas?
I am looking forward to spending more time looking for inspiration on here now that the car is back!
