Need help with door compartment removal
 

I have a 1990 where I am trying to remove the door compartment to access the door speaker. I was able to remove all the screws however the compartment seems to be still connected to the center latch that opens the door. The compartment dangles and slides a little back and forth but does not come off. I cannot locate any screw that is keeping it on. Anyone know how that last piece is still connected. :banghead: Thanks

Look in DIY section - but just need to unscrew the big round black plastic piece on top centre of panel - Pop out the centre, remove screw, remove as smaller centre piece, then turn big piece counter clock

To just remove the door pouch- have you unhooked the handle itself? Push upwards on the metal rod inserted into the back of the door handle but I think there's also a big Allen key bolt around there into the main meat of the handle which requires the whole door card removal as above.

Open the compartment and look inside there is a screw that attaches to door handle

There is indeed a hidden screw inside the door bin. It is screwed into the door handle, forward facing.

It is holds the vertical planes of the bin and the door handle together.

The door latch stays just on the actual door handle. I don't think it has to be removed to remove the bin.

RE: this is for anyone planning on replacing the door handle.

After seeing a video of someone failing with long pliers, I bent a coat hangar and a 1/4" hollow 18" pipe for tools. I used the coat hangar to guide it home then the pipe to push it in. Literally took me a few minutes. The pipe I bent on one end like a T for a handle and the other end about a 10 degree bend and flattened out the end with a V shape cup to hold the rod end in place to fit over the ball.
