OBD2 converter cable / data logging
I am looking to hook up some basic data logging to my 964.
My preference would be to connect through a Bluetooth OBD link (I have a DL1, but would like to move to a wireless setup).
Would a 19-pin to OBD2 adaptor (e.g. Bergvill's) output a standard OBD2 signals to the Bluetooth transmitter, and what signals will be available? (e.g rpm, temperature, full throttle, off throttle?) I also understand others e.g. throttle position will not be available.
Thanks for your help!

Best that you can do is the obdplot routine available here: http://pcbunn.cacr.caltech.edu/jjb/p...64-Porsche.htm
You'll need Tore's t-obd to use it. You can get volts, rpm, timing, injector pulse, temps, etc. But the resolution is *very* coarse.
What are you looking for?

Thanks. I am looking for at least rpm for a shift light (using my cell phone). Since the light will blink ~500rpm from red line / rev limiter, does t-obd gives enough reolution?
I had a DL1/Dash 3 set up in my old Boxster. I got rpm (which also feeds the shift lights on my dash), TPS, and brake light (not pedal pressure) in additional to GPS and g's. I was only using only 20% of my logger's (DL1) capability.
Since cell phone apps can already log GPS and g's (and integrate video syncing), I am trying to understand how much of the other data I can replicate without installing a dedicated system.

Always wondered if I could hook up an HUD to the OBD1 - OBD2

Nothing will read data from the 964 motronic other than hardware that is specifically designed for it.
Not sure if I'm missing something, but why do you need a shift light unless for the gimmick? The rev limiter works perfectly well.

The rather old software OBDplot did a similar thing: http://pcbunn.cithep.caltech.edu/jjb...64-Porsche.htm
OBDPlot with all the necessary drivers is included in the downloadable zip file for my T-OBD.
Off-the-shelf OBD software/"readers" will not be compatible with the 964 Motronic, wireless or not. The OBD output data from the 964 Motronic unit is not fast enough to be a reliable RPM shift indication.
Cheers,
Tore
