Default How to best address this rust bubble

Just looking for opinions on this. I noticed it a year ago and now it's all I see when I look at the car. It used to be sealed and now I see a crack/ aperture on the bubble. With water now able to be trapped there, I want it seen to.

I've never done body correction work like this and I don't want to take it to a body shop without Porsche experience. What would you guys do? Does this look like the windshield will need removal to address? What should I expect to pay to have it handled?

Thanks.

My car has a similar spot.

I believe the best practice here is to remove the windshield, grind away the whole area to bare metal, cut away all compromised metal and weld in new material.

As an interim fix, before the proper fix as Vandit describes, scrape the blistered paint away, lightly sand and apply SEM Rust-Seal, this will halt the spread of the rust.

Yes remove the windshield.

If it were me, I would do it this way:

Have my windshield guy come to my garage and take out the windshield. Carefully sand the area till down to bare metal and see if the metal underneath is still sound. If so, prime and take to my local body guy and have them sand/prime/paint and feather it in so it looks right. Get a new window seal and invite the window guy back to reinstall.

Or , if that makes you nervous, hand it to a body shop that you trust. I personally don't trust any shop anymore. Just me...I'm getting old and paranoid. I just want to be there and see that things get done right.

^^ This will not work for long as most of the rust is on the hidden side of the panel and needs to be cut away.
You may as well paint a flower on it, to make it look better.....

Only if the rust is a hole that goes all the way through right? If it's just surface he doesn't need to cut away the panel...or am I just way off...mine was just surface, so it was taken care of with no cutting. Hasn't come back yet (knock on wood)

A blister this bad will be the tip of the ice berg, expect lots more under the window seal! Don't kid yourself into thinking there is a band aid for this. Thankfully a competent body shop will sort this easily. I'd do it sooner rather than later though.

Thanks for the advice on this. I prefer to fully address the issue, so, I'll be taking it to a good body shop to get it properly sorted. If anyone has good experience with a body shop in SE Michigan, please let me know/.

Thx!

I'm going to have to take care of mine eventually. Not as bad as what I'm seeing in these pics. May have to check that shop out. Been looking for one in Michigan.
