WTB - Where - source of project cars
Visitor from the 996 (and occasional 944) forums here - looking to become a member. Short and quick, I'm starting my search for a project 964 - something that I can not feel bad about tearing apart, tweaking and putting it all back together. Therefore numbers matching, original paint examples need not apply.
As an intro as well, I currently own both an '02 996 cab with ~70k and an '83 944 race / track only car. The cab has seen minor work (wheel bearings, clutch, RMS, other thing near the RMS, and maintenance) while the 944 has been completely torn down twice, has a full cage and would freighting and purist. She's not pretty, but sure is fun to drive.
So - aside from CL and eBay, where do most of the project 964's pop up? I see quite a few listings for pristine examples but that's obviously not what I want. I'm not in a rush, but would like to get a feel for the market.

Good luck finding a donor car is not very easy or cheap lately

Thanks for the ideas, I didn't really consider dismantlers.
I'm not exactly looking for a donor car, it's just that everything I seem to run across is being marketed on it's pristine condition. It's foolish for me to buy a car like that given my 'project' interest. I would assume a bell curve distribution of cars where the majority are really in this 'ok' or average condition. I want something on the left end of this curve.
I'll keep poking around.

I found my "project car" on Craigslist on the other side of the country last October. I looked for at least 6 months, probably closer to 1 year. I had to drive it 2500 miles back with dampers with absolutely no damping, but it was worth it!
