Stock Springs ride height with Bilsteins
 

I have an US 89 C4 with 17" Cup II wheels. I want to keep my ride quality and clearance for downtown streets, parking ramps, etc but also want to eliminate the extra space. I went to a very reputable shop today and they recommend new euro Bilstein HDs and adjusting them down to lower ride height. I understand the age of my car and the potential for having to replace springs later if I don't like it but my questions is whether anyone else is running this setup? Does anyone have pictures and or know ride height?

I know there are many previous threads but I haven't been able to find the right answer and truly appreciate the help!

I have Bilstein HD's on my '90 C2 with stock springs and you actually lose some adjustment on the front because the threads on the Bilstein do not extend as far down on the shock tube as with the original Boge's . FVD makes a collar for the HD's that gives you extra adjustability.

You can lower the car about 2" with bilstein HD's and aftermarket springs and still be fine for the street. You are not going to be able to lower it too far unless you buy the bilstein sports for the front. The regular HD's don't allow more than 2-2.5" lower than stock even with eibach or H&R lowering springs.
