A dream becomes reality - after 25 years...
In 1990, shortly after I had bought my first car (a 1982 Toyota Corolla would you believe!) I recall seeing a brand new Porsche 964 Carrera 2 in the traffic. The looks and the sound left a lasting impression at the time. I felt a strong desire, but had no means nor could I foresee having them to ever acquire one.
Fast forward to 2000. My masters degree almost done, a job already in the pocket and a friend comes by showing his 911 SC. I even got to drive it. I was hooked and knew I had to have one some day.
Over the years the library of Porsche magazines and books piled up and I started getting closer to being able to afford my first Porsche. But then comes marriage, buying a house, etc. I guess you can get the picture. Prioritising things.
But I never gave up the dream. And finally, a week ago, 25 years after seeing the 964 for the first time the dream has become reality for me and I have bought my first Porsche.
I had been looking out for one for about a year. It had to be a 911. It also had to be air cooled. Preferably (for me) it would also be of the classic 911 shape, meaning a coupé and a 964 or earlier rather than a 993. A working air-con as well as automatic transmission were considered plusses as a fair amount of the driving would be in traffic and I am not looking to track it. When I saw this one come up for sale, it ticked all the boxes...
A couple of very friendly 964 owners offered to join me for support and advice when I went to check out the car. Their knowledge of the 964 was invaluable and the test drive confirmed what the appearance of the car indicated. The wife also approved and after some haggling a deal was struck. I am therefore now a proud owner of a midnight blue Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Tiptronic from 1993
The car has done around 92.000km, which I guess is around 57k miles. The mileage seems genuine - based on the condition of the car as well as the pile of invoices dating back over 10 years and showing the mileage over the years when it has been serviced fastidiously every 5000km or so. The car is completely original with the exception of a remote having being added to the central locking.
So far I have been impressed by the car (how much fun it is to drive), by the community (other Porsche owners offering help, advice, greeting in traffic, etc.) as well as the reactions of all other road users (who seem to be A LOT more positive and flexible when it comes to an old Porsche vs a new BMW). I look forward to many enjoyable years and miles with the car.
Overall, I have only one regret: Oh why did I not do this earlier?!
Thanks for reading.

Thanks!
The interior of the car is dark blue leather and the German documentation shows the following codes:
Innenausstattung - SW
Innenausstattungsmaterialcode - KL Kunstleder
Sitz Kombinations Nummer - BQA
Sitz Mitte Material - LED Echt Leder
Seitenwangen Material - LE Echt Leder
Lehnen Rücken Material - KL Kunstleder
Teppich Farbcode - 4KV
Would anyone be able to decipher these codes? I am specifically interested in what the interior color is called and not quite sure if it is available from the above data?

Congrats! I know the feeling well. Not my first p car but my first air cooled also arrived less than a week ago. You'll find here a great bunch of enthusiasts ready to answer any questions you have. Enjoy the car.

- Innenausstattung - SW = Schwarz = Black
- 4KV is blue according to https://books.google.com/books?id=ed...0codes&f=false
The rest can easily be translated, nevertheless:
- Interior material code - synthetic leather
- Your seats should be genuine leather except for the back, which is synthetic leather
Very nice color btw

It's a fantastic feeling, and I still remember the feeling I had only a few short years ago driving away in my first Porsche. You got a great example from the looks of it, and will enjoy it. Congrats.
