Absolutely, I love all the jelly beans, but being drawn to them is one thing, being able to find one is another! I would love a rubystone 964, never seen one in oz.

That's a very decent collection mate! Sadly the 500E was never sold here, would love one...

I guess it's just me, but while I love a black 964, I don't get the whole blacked-out trend. To me, it just flattens out the car too much (especially when people also black out the lights). To my designer's eye, black cars especially need a tiny bit of contrast to really pop, which a nice set of aluminum rims do nicely. As nice as those Rufs are, your 964 with the cups on looks more appealing to me because of the added contrast. From far away, black wheels always remind me of cheap steelies.

Maybe I'm just more of a traditionalist. Whether it be blacked out, stance, backdating....no thanks. I prefer my cars clean. 964's are already already such striking cars on the road...there's no need to make them look more like some teens Infiniti G35.

Just my opinion of course. If it makes you happy, more power to you!
agree 100%, a little contrast enhances what it is set against. a black suit with a black shirt with a black tie and black shoes ...it all blends into a black mush. the red car with the black wheels pops, and if the lips were silver, holy $h!t, like the first car in this thread

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...re-thread.html

nevertheless, the car is truly beautiful. i like the RUFs better, but you probably saved 20lbs of unsprung weight with OZs.

all the best, enjoy.

the 500 is definitely a cool car and the porsche connection/development/assembly make it a unique car to own. built at a time when both companies were spending lots of money on their models and build quality is superior. the 500 was a [rather] crazy expensive car for it's time.

to follow up a bit flyt993's thought, i'm also a big fan of old-school 3-pc rims with polished lips. the work meisters look great on that 964! i opted for something out of the norm on my 500 - most run something in the AMG range on their 500s - and went with 3-pc HRE 540s with black centers. might not be for everyone on a 500, but i like 'em.

Still have so much love for the 500e. Have stories of my uncle ordering one brand new in 91-91 for about 120,000 because there wasn't one on a lot for sale near him. Bought it for his mother. I remember being a small kid and seeing her pull up in it. She kept it so clean! She's long since stopped driving, but he still owns the car. Would love a black/black one to go with the 964.

i was hoping for a true '040' black 500e, but they're rarer than one would think. this '199' car found me after i had inquired about it maybe a year before. it has a very well known and documented history - nice, big binder with all receipts in individual sleeves. these benz guys can be a tad fastidious.

when looking at available 500s, you buy the car, not the color. flat black, pearl black, bornite blackberry and white would have been my top choices for color, so i'm good with the pearl black and this particular car. it's amazing how well documented most of the NA 500s are on the 500eboard.

I'd lower it just a tad bit more. And maybe some smoked turn signals just for that murdered out all black look. Other than that I like it!

Those plates are a good reason to move to Australia.
Maybe the only reason.

(I'm from NZ BTW so I'm allowed to poke an Aussie in the ribs )

Porsches and Coffee today at Palm Beach. Those OS might also know it as "Summer Bay". Over 180 cars in total about 10 or so 964's, sadly one stranded halfway between the city and the beach...

Here's a shot of little blacky taken by Petrol Fuelled Passion. More on their Facebook page.

964 Turbo

I didn't know these were in OZ already? Very well sorted R tribute though.

I haven't posted for a little while as I've been distracted by a new purchase. I'm now the proud owner of a 987 Spyder. No guesses on the colour...

Decided to introduce it to the 964 with a 2,500km road trip from Sydney to Bellingen and back. Don't be afraid to get em dirty!

And then all cleaned up at a local meet in Sydney the following weekend. Friend's immaculate 964 Speedster, hiding behind there too..
