Another creative here (designer/illustrator) with a 964 here....
I guess it's just me, but while I love a black 964, I don't get the whole blacked-out trend. To me, it just flattens out the car too much (especially when people also black out the lights). To my designer's eye, black cars especially need a tiny bit of contrast to really pop, which a nice set of aluminum rims do nicely. As nice as those Rufs are, your 964 with the cups on looks more appealing to me because of the added contrast. From far away, black wheels always remind me of cheap steelies.
Maybe I'm just more of a traditionalist. Whether it be blacked out, stance, backdating....no thanks. I prefer my cars clean. 964's are already already such striking cars on the road...there's no need to make them look more like some teens Infiniti G35.
Just my opinion of course. If it makes you happy, more power to you!

I too am an architect and my cars have been typically either silver or black. My 964 however is Diamond Blue Metallic and I absolutely love the way it changes in the light. The black on black is a bit much even for me but hey, it's your car.
Keep experimenting!

I love the OZ Alleggeritra wheels. I too have a black 964 and have contemplated getting black OZ wheels. I think it looks good. I think a little color pop with yellow / orange / green / blue calipers would help though.

surprised i never ran across this thread before - had to post some info on myself, as we're talking about 'creative' types. graduated college with a BFA in painting and owned a graphic design company for 20 years - i should have been an architect. love early/late modern architecture and mid-century furniture design.
now the important part, we own nothing but black cars; C4S - black/black, carrera - black/tan, 951 - black/black, and 500e - pearl black/black. my wife even drives a black/tan V70R. my previous RSA was black/black and i'm trying to work a deal right now on a 964 in black/tan. i'm a huge 964 fan and i remember when most considered them the 'stepchild'. the cars are not all black/black, but all black exteriors. oddly enough, i wear black clothes a good bit also.
very nice 964s itsujack. had rufs on my RSA - very nice! i must say, the cups just look right on the black car.
we need an 'artist noir' thread.

Interesting. You'd think self-described "creatives" would be drawn to more unique colors, especially in a old sports car. So accountants are the ones that bought the rubystone 964s...

If I'm ever buying new, it's definitely going to be paint-to-sample.

if anyone is on instagram, my feed is full of bright colored porsches. so, the desire for the bright colors is there, but black is still a great color on porsches and i'll gladly keep all mine.

a touch of black...
you can barely see the back bumper of the V70R in front of our friend's jeep - also black.
