C4 Engine and tranny reinstall pointers and tips?
About to reinstall my engine this weekend. I dropped it myself and took a multitude of notes. Wondering if there is a good sequence to follow for the reinstall, and any tips or pitfalls that I should heed?

Installation is pretty straight forward. When you are lifting the engine/tranny, be sure to make sure that the CV axles do not get hung up above it. The passenger side, is critical, since the starter will be in the way. Also, don't forget to attach the ground strap from the bottom of the car to the starter/bell housing.

The throttle cable is easy to squeeze with the engine tin because you forget to route it through the hole in the tin wear. And check that the big rubber seal around the engine folds correctly.

Fit the clutch slave to the gearbox before you fully push the engine into position. Same for gearbox oil if you have drained it, if you havent now is probably a good time to refresh it. Double/triple check you have everything hooked up behind the engine while its still half pushed into place - dont forget the throttle cable.
A spare pair of hands is useful for the rear engine mount bolts unless you are blessed with Mr tickle arms

If engine was apart, make sure you can do full rotation by hand and valves do not kiss pistons. make sure distributor and crank are in sync.
Do leak down test.
You can connect clutch cylinder while whole thing is low on the jacks. After that bleed clutch and verify that clutch pedal actually moves fork and clutch.
Watch throttle cable. After engine is in make sure throttle is closed and idle switch is pressed. If your throttle cable is misrouted engine will start at high rpm - no good. Verify full throttle also.
Pick up all bolts and nuts that gremlins dropped in to intake ports

Install went well. Issues with the tranny to engine but finally went with the loose clutch late method and it went well from there.
Will post this question here as well, with a rebuilt engine as well as an oil tank and oil cooler refurb, I expected that the car would take the normal amount of oil at first (6quarts/ litres) then a bigger top up to fill the lines and cooler once the thermostat opened. I did this, and have now put in a full 12 litres of oil into the system without the sensor budging. My question is for those that have done a rebuilt with all oil out, HOW MUCH OIL DOES IT TAKE TO REGISTER ON THE GUAGE?
