Default Brass shift rod coupler bushings, cheap golden rod alternative?

Last weekend I took a friends shift assembly apart to install an RS short shifter and all new bushings. I noticed the rubber bushings in the shift rod coupler were pretty worn and had a lot of slop. I started looking for replacements and found a bunch of poly options, but then I stumbled upon brass ones, they're listed for 65-88, but look exactly like the 964 part, so I figured for $46 shipped, I'd give them a try.

They pressed right in like the originals and work like a champ. It's a night and day difference in the feel of the shifter, there's no more slop at all. Next weekend I do my car.

Anyone else using these?

If you read through robt964's rebuild thread, I believe he came up w/ a DIY solution using spherical joints.

I'm not sure, does the C4 have a different style coupler at the trans?

I have an extra of what flyintomato has pictured- the rod and shifter bracket if anyone needs one. I went with a rothsport billet. PM me.

When someone verifies they work on a C4, please let us know. I'd like to buy them as well...

To be perfectly honest, I do not know, I'd like to think they are the same!

Anyone confirm this works on the C4? I don't really see why they would have a different part. All 911s seem to use the same setup.

C2 and C4 have different ends on the shift rod

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod12...d-96442401908/

If you click on "zoom in" you can see the photo is the C2 part but image in the parts diagram is of a C4 rod.

I think therefore the above bushing is for C2 only.
