Default 964 fuel tank collapse

89 964 c4 fuel tank collapse due to lack of venting. i.e. the fuel is pumped out but no ambient air replaces it so the fuel tank is sucked in. I have reformed the tank once but did not solve the underlying problem and thus it collapsed again.

i had a similar problem. per my mechanic one of the culprits was a clogged vent hose that runs under the driver slider rocker (LHD). no issues after blowing out the dirt, i also sourced used fuel and evaporator tanks during the process.

The vent system goes to the charcoal canister. The canister itself had a fresh air line. Spiders love to nest in those spots. Start at the canister and work your way forward. BTW, the only thing that makes the canister go bad is if it gets filled with fuel. Otherwise the charcoal will absorb/purge vapors forever.
