Glad you all are ok. Nothing else matters. I realize that doesn't help your insurance situation, but whatever your settlement ends up being, everyone ended up safe and healthy.
There have been a few stories here are taking the settlement and then buying the car from the insurance company. Taking a car from salvage to rebuilt title can be a pain, but could give you and the boys a fun winter project...
Anyway...glad you and your family are ok. Cars are replaceable, as is money. Well. Money thrown into cars...usually doesn't come back...lol.

Although money thrown into a 964 you bought back for cheap and get on the road again after getting your settlement check would certainly come back. Glad you guys are all OK..crazy deal. You'll talk about this one around the dinner table for a long time to come.

Glad you are all OK. A big shame about the car, which I've enjoyed reading about over the years, but very much a secondary concern compared to you and your boys. Well done on remaining calm in that situation.

Glad to read it ends as well as it could considering the circumstances.
Sorry about the car, yes it's only a piece of steel, but it's the best German steel there is. After nine years it must be though to see.
Best of luck!

Sounds like the tendency of a 911 to go backwards was really helpful to you and your boys on this occasion!
Regarding the insurance, I would collect as many for sale ads as possible, print them off and present them as a dossier of what these cars now cost to replace. Good luck with the negotiations.

Glad to hear all of you made it out ok. Its scary how many cars end up in ponds and lakes around here and have a much different outcome.
I always liked the color of your car. Hope it works out for you on the insurance.
How did you get all that sand in the back seat? Looks like mine after a day at Daytona beach

It's funny how you remember every detail of a crash even if the event takes only seconds. It sounds like you did everything right in the heat of the moment. Now let's all get some extra insurance! Seriously, I'm happy to hear everyone is alright and can catch a movie some other night.

Thanks, everyone, for the support.
The process has begun. The shop that towed the car is trying to hold on to it for their $$/day storage fee. The insurance company is dragging their feet. The estimator has yet to contact me. Shop thinks its salvageable; trying to get car moved there. I'm thinking that I'll move the car to my house so I can negotiate a settlement from a stopped dollar-clock position.
Fortunately, I have a beater car to fall back on. Unfortunately, I'm now driving a beater.
Although, the truth is, very few people get to enjoy a 911 every day for 9.5 years. It was a fine car, and it put a smile on my face every time I turned the key. I'm thankful for having had the experience.
