now i can justify my top end rebuild did not know this was there enjoying my diy rebuild

Had you already degreased the exterior of the motor? Cause if you hadn't, then that motor looks pretty clean pre-teardown.

is that a crack on the same cylinder upper right?

^^good eye .. the middle one
is that what most piston heads look like after a 100k miles or is that oil/carbon build up?

this ones covered 157k miles and had 2 clutches i think the oil in the bore is due to the engine being left side ways on the stand but yes there is a lot of carbon biuld up no crack found when clean up

That headstud is a surprise Ray, there were no telltale noises when I last heard the motor. Hopefully the internals check out ok and you will soon be back putting the motor back together
