Default Interior lights

My interior lights have never functioned properly with the opening of the doors. When on the "door" setting they just stay on all the time. I assumed this was just an issue with the door sensors, but I recently realized that the car does know when each door is opened or closed due to the chime that will go off letting you know that a door is open.

If it's not the sensors on the door jamb, what would cause those lights to stay on?

Is the light on the front trunk operating properly? If that switch isn't working and the circuit stays closed even w/ the trunk shut (i.e. light on), then the interior lights stay on.

That light never works, so the bulb is probably burned out or removed. I will look into that. Thanks Ramon

Vagluv, the connector for the frunk switch is easily accessed near the hinge. You can just disconnect that and take the switch out of the equation. (I think it may be red and brown wires, but don't know for sure)

Just did some troubleshooting on the car. There was no bulb at all in the frunk, so I put one in and verified that the switch is working properly. Had to ajust the contact point for the plunger, but that light is working correctly now. The interior lights still do not switch off with the doors. Is there a delay on those once the doors are closed, or should they go off right away?

So I figured out that there is a delay for the lights, or until the key is turned over. Everything seems to be performing correctly now, with the exception of the passenger door plunger being a little slow sometimes, meaning that the car doesn't always seem to know right away that door was opened. I'll try some contact cleaner on that. How do I remove it? Does the rubber cover just pop off?

Assuming the doors are closed, the interior lights should respond instantly to the trunk switch. The interior lights linger on for awhile after a door has been closed.

Unscrew the rubber and washer counter clockwise.

The delay is not on all cars. My 1990 doesn't have it but my 1991 does.
