Hi All,

My handmade ebony Singer style shift **** arrived today from Elihu and I"m delighted with it, so here are the photos as promised

This photo taken with an iPhone lens, makes the shaft of the **** appear flared like a Champagne cork, which of course it isn't. The gear pattern insert is very good and it does the job perfectly. The **** is very tactile and warm to touch, it's a beautiful thing.

The weight of the **** without an insert is (he forgot to enclose it) is 2 oz. or 60 gms. approx.

By comparison for you Streetdaddy both the Dansk **** and my custom one together, roughly the same size but a chunkier look.

The weight of the Dansk **** is less than 1.5 oz or 40 gms. approx.

Now to get measured up.

Cheers,
Paul

Paul,

That looks beautiful! Great taste. I am going to have him make me a Corian one.
Once you get it installed, measure how long of a sleeve you need.

What are you planning to use over the factory boot?

Thanks again Streetdaddy, much appreciated! I'll measure up early next week as the car is away at the mo.

I'm watching what you come up with first It may come down to me having a leather gator made when I have my seats retrimmed but my preferred option would be an exposed rubber boot.

Cheers,
Paul

Looks fantastic Paul. I have to email Elihu about a **** and ask him how much the corian version weighs compared to the wood.

Nice one Paul - wish you many smooth shifts!
Very keen on the corian if the weight is 150g's ... Group buy would likely work too.

Man, thats awesome, Neffets!

I've been struggling trying to get mine to work to my satisfaction.I ordered a rubber boot but it was too stiff and not a perfect fit.The stock shift boot is much more "rubbery "and takes a good shine with some black magic. Here is the best i came up withName: image-37.jpg

I cut a stock boot and pulled out the factory boot.

I wonder if you can just use your Proto type and pull the factory boot up through your Proto type?

There is a rubber boot plant in Hannibal Missouri that makes custom shift boots… I have even tried to be in contact with them. May be an option for the rubber boot part.

I can try to pull the rubber boot over, but I think it sits to low.

Hi Neffets,

I certainly think you are on the right track with this.

The original 964 boot may be able to be re-seated around your well thought out plate. I'm sure it would be possible to adapt your plate.

The only thing that might spoil the party is that the shift lever may be a little short when the boot is raised but again, that could possibly be adapted. An RS quickshift which lengthens the lever might even be long enough and then it's all standard Porsche parts.

Great work!
Paul
