It will help to lower it more, but I don't think it will be enough, the pivot sits really low.

You guys might want to check this out:

Stainless steel available in different colors. 500g. Pricey though.

http://lathewerks.com/shop/product_i...roducts_id=269

No affiliation. I was considering ordering from him before for my track car.

I exchanged a couple emails with Chris asking about something similar to the pic below, but with a longer and hollow stainless shaft so we could slip it on the OEM shifter. The good news is that he can make whatever we need/want and I am waiting to speak with him directly so we can talk about material choices and pricing.

I tried aluminum/stainless steel gearknob many years ago, it was so cold that I put on it an egg warmer, nedless to say it got replaced quickly...
I did some drawing here today and i'll make one for fun just to test, the red part is hollow, so I was thinking of filling it from the top with lead pellets and glue. And then the shfiter pattern ontop.
Square hole with a set screw to secure it, I made it a couple cm higher than stock, which I think sits to low.

Please do! This is a great alternative for me if the Singer doesn't pan out. Have it raised and the shaft all in one piece to have it look like the FD shifter and simply fold the leather boot lower like this...

I made this today, I might stick with a two tone gear ****. But I think i'll paint the stainless steel pipe black, since I don't have any parts inside the car that has that look.

Are you going to leave some of the OEM rubber boot exposed like your most recent shot or have the leather boot extend up to the bottom of the steel shaft?
