Default More oil in engine than oil tank when draining

I’ve changed oil several times on a previous 964. With this 92 C2 when I drained the oil, after the car was sitting on a lift (slightly nose down) for 3 months, almost all of the oil drained from the engine drain plug rather that the plug in front of the LR wheel. Any ideas whether there is a problem?? What could cause the oil to drain into the engine from the tank while sitting for a time?

Which one did you drain first?

That is completely normal. Oil will drain from the tank to crank case over time.

Back flow through the scavenge side of the oil pump, mainly due to scores /wear in the pump itself. Can't do anything about it without rebuilding an otherwise perfect running engine so you just have to live with it.

Thanks to all who replied. I guess I won't worry about it.

Did a tour of the Rothsport shop a few months ago. They showed me a check valve they now offer for cars that sit a fair bit. I have no experience with any of the products and am not affiliated but thought I would pass the info along if you'd feel better about keeping your oil in the sump rather than the crankcase. http://www.rothsport.com/Products/En...eck-Valves.htm

I was going to mention that I just saw that on his site. It it's from Rothsport, it will be a jewel.
