Default Selling my car on EBay

All,

I am thinking of selling my '91 Cab on EBay but not sure how it works. I have bought and sold small ticket items frequently, just not something this big.

Any pointers? Things to watch for? Is it safe?

Might as well sell it, not able to drive it much any more.

Pictures pictures and pictures. The more high quality pictures you include the better chance of getting top dollar.

Listing a vehicle on eBay is a bit different and the winning bid is non-binding. Take a look at http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...-vehicles.html for a bit more data on the process. With people willing to await shipment of 964s you will get a much larger buying audience.

I have sold my 1988 928 S4 5spd and a 1993 MB 500E on eBay. Easy to do and happy with results. But if I recall, it was closer to $300.

Just a thought... instead of spending time selling, spend the time driving it

I couldn't agree more. But, here is what is happening at the moment. The steering rack is leaking which is not uncommon from what I read. It is leaking because of lack of driving it I suppose. The car only has 63K miles on it of which I have only put 15K on in 7 years. One trip to NC from Columbus OH and one trip to Hersey PA from Columbus. The rest are to car shows and some country drives with my club, MORPCA.
So now the car sits in the garage with the leaking rack and It makes me wonder if I should just go ahead and sell. I would feel better if someone could actually get enjoyment out of the car, at least more than I have been able to. I simply have no time and a car sitting in the garage is not good. These are meant to be driven.
BTW, this car is a really nice unmolested all original (Except for the $8000.00 respray from the PO). Have records and complete tool kit, air pump, even the original radio.
What is the consensus? Should I keep it? How hard is the rack to do? I have seen some info, but would like to hear personal experiences. I may fix it or get it fixed and then sell or sell it as is which would be reflected in a reduced asking price.
Thoughts anybody?

Oh, and wife suggested sell now and get another in retirement..........

Then again it may help fund your retirement one day. Who knows?

BTW racks are not that hard to do if your handy just have to decide if it is worth buying a rebuilt and see if it lasts or spend up for new which are very pricey.

I'd recommend fixing it before offering for it sale. It may be a slightly tougher sell in the fall and winter......but it would also give you some time to reconsider.

I'm betting you'd regret selling it....and the $$ in the bank wouldn't offset the hole in your garage. Waiting for retirement to replace it may not be realistic with the strong demand.

The 964 is a special car, and a well sorted example is very rewarding. You might check with your shop on the cost to repair. Good luck with your decision.

I think I can do it myself, done all the other work on the car myself, including distributor belt, valve adjustments, oil changes, brake/clutch fluid, trans gear lube, clutch slave hose and the like.

Rebuilt can be had for around $500.00 I think, or I have heard of some success with the Rack Doctor.

I think the wife is focusing on retirement..............

I agree with all that.

That is one of my issues, I do not know of any shops I would trust. I would want to watch everything they do, and perhaps get in their way.

Just stop all this blasphemy! Get a rebuilt rack, slap it in and keep the car. 964s are rare, second wives are not.

So, what would a very attractive price be to get this sold if I chose to do so?

LOL, my guess is that you're going to get a few "another cleverly disguised for sale ad by a non member" comments.
