Default Is there any asbestos in a 964?

Apologies for the daft question

Anyone know if it was used (outside of clutches and break pad options)

What material is in the rear bumper heat shield? Fibreglass?

Was it ever used inside the bonnet as a fire barrier ?

Just curious...

I can't say 100% for sure but I just completely disassembled a 90 C4 and I did not come across anything that I would consider asbestos. The heat shield is aluminum with I believe a fiberglass center.

Asbestos, and most importantly the friable crystalline type was pretty much eliminated from all manufacturing by the early 80's. Brake pads and clutch disks in western countries are asbestos free. Notwithstanding some illicit materials occasionally slip thru, like chinese wallboard and lead painted children's toys....

So stick with EU, US or JP volume importable parts and you're pretty safe.

Textar, Pagid, Hawk, Sachs, etc... most of the stuff we tend to get online in the USA and EU.

Porsche stopped using asbestos in brake pads starting in 1989. The Porsche 964 Environmental Manual covers end-of-life disposal and tells you what is what material-wise.
