Default Porsche re-releases the original Red Oil Filter

Just came across this and thought i'd give you a heads up. These were OE on the classic pcars back in the day and have been discontinued for years. I believe Porsche have just started to sell them again. Might brighten up the engine bay a little

I just guessed. I figured since it has Porsche written on it that it must be stupidly priced.

Well that price makes them kinda cool. What's that, 2-3 dollars more? Problem comes when u only want to order just the filter and you pay $13 just in shipping. Back to red paint and my Sharpie or do nothing. Not pretty no matter what. A motor only we or a mother could love the look of.

My local Porsche dealer carries virtually nothing for 964. I went to Herb Chambers Porsche in Boston when I first got a Porsche for a distributer cap, and belts, they didn't have a cap and rotor in stock. It is pathetic. I hope they become one of the classic parts centers, but not holding my breath. They say they don't even have a mechanic that works on anything older then 996. I quickly learned all the parts dealers online.

Most good 964 mechanics are independent by now. If you want to pay the dealer's ungodly rate for a kid straight out of VoTech, be my guest. Regarding the filer. Mahle OC54 and paint it red. No reason to use anything else.
