Default The Ex Girl Friend I could never get over.

After being back in the seat of a 964, I realized that of all the cars I have owned it is the only one that I had to have back..Kind of like that ex girl friend that you never got out of your system...

I get a giddy feeling every time I open the garage. The look, feel, the way the car drives is addicting....I have not driven the 997 RS but once since the 964 arrived. I have to say with Ian's weight reduction and Jeff Gamroth's street set up it drives almost identical to my old RS...

Am I crazy, or is this a normal behavior for a 964 Owner....

Joe,

Given what you have owned (and currently own!) that truly is high praise - I thank you.

I really, really miss that car. My loss is your gain. I'm thoroughly delighted that you are the new custodian because I know how much you enjoy a lightweight "sports purpose" 964.

PS next time you get your Cup out, give me a call

Crazy???

There are two sides... it's always the other side that's crazy.

I think there are many with a story like you on this board.

Try the other boards and the response may be different.

None of this takes away that the 964 is finally getting into icon territory. And getting more scarce... thank you Singer.

Normal!

You're definitely on the right track from what I've seen; that is, lots of GT3 owners being interested in a 964.

I only can speak to what I have and what I'm lucky enough to drive. It looks, smells, sounds and feels like the 911 experience I've always wanted. Not bad for a $20,000 car too.
I love all 911s, and I would really, really love to have a GT3 also, but the more I think about it, I would probably still drive the 964 more.

It comes down to the size of the car, and that I can't drive any faster on public roads than I can with the 964...
Now that it's 25 years old, it's less in your face (like a GT3) and more of a cool old car. Less attention is good.

The 964 is pretty special on a winding back road in 3rd gear @ 4,000+ RPM.

Does this mean if I drive to Oregon tonight I can drive the GT3?

I know what you mean though; I've had some good offers to buy my car recently but I have to decline every time because even if it sold, I would just use the money to buy another one.

Pretty normal Joe. It's like driving an early car with real suspension.

Now comparing this to a 996 GT3, I'm not so sure. Did you ever own a 6-3?

Funny, I've just read through a thread where a guy has asked 991TT Vs 991GT3.
I have to say that I laughed at most the comments that described the TT as boring, which maybe it is.
One guy was considering a GT3 or alternatively a Macan Turbo?????
How can you be considering or comparing the two!
So I've suggested that they should consider a 964!
Buy a good one for $40K, spend another $40K in mods etc and they'll still only have spent less that half of what a GT3 will have cost them and have as much, or more fun in the process.

Don't think Jeff is on the boards much.
Speaking of Ex's, here's a cool pic of Schmidt's ex Rubystone. Not sure if the hottie is now X.

Is that car going in for an even "more" colorful vinyl wrap? Haha. What a car.
