Default HID problems

Hey all, been at this one for weeks and just can't get past it, I'm at the point that I think I'll need to get a car spark in to check it out.

This problem has happened twice, first time I got it fixed at the local Porsche specialist and the problem has come back after a couple of years.

The problem, I noticed that I have side lights but no main bean. Thought what can this be, blown fuse. Changed the fuse on the inline power feed for the HiD kit. Turned the lights on and pop. Went through about four or five fuses. I then tried to flash the lights and nothing not even the notion that the lights were using the vacuums to move. Hmmmmmm

Stripped the lights back as much as possible and still the same problem. I just can't fine the short or the problem causing it. I'm on my second HID kit and it's not fixed it.

I'm thinking that I can flash the lights has something to do with it but just not sure where that fits in.

Anyone had this problem before? Thoughts would be warmly received before I call an auto spark. I just prefer to find these things myself and don't like to get beat.

Arrrggggghhhhhhhhh

David

I think you might have the steering column light stalk issue...
There's a few threads about it on here and pelican, but this one should get you started

That link gave me good food for thought. I've since then thought a bit more, I replaced the fogs with rs vents and I wonder if the wires are shorting it out. I'll check and see.
