Buying my First Porsche, Need Extra Eyes: 1990 C4 Coupe
Hey Everyone!
I'm not new to the forum, been lurking for some years now. I've always grown up with Porsche's in my life and finally may be in the position to own my first. I run a motorcycle dealership and enjoy working on cars on the side. My dad has had a 1979 911SC, 1990 C4 Cab, and 2002 996TT, I've driven the last two.
The car in question is a 1990 C4 Coupe with 69k on the clock. Here's some of the big details:
3rd owner is selling it, he's had it for about 20 years
There was a recall on the heads (I suspect the gaskets I hear referenced, cylinder heads I believe?) and the then owner took the opportunity to punch it out to 3.8L and install an aftermarket exhaust. From the looks it seems to be an older B&B? I don't have any pics of that unfortunately, but the tip isn't stock and the only muffler is behind the rear bumper (leading right into the cat).
The transmission was "gone through" about 10k miles ago
It had a super lightweight flywheel that was replaced with a heavier unit along with the clutch, maybe 15k miles ago?
It's a driver so it needs a good wax, but very straight and very tight. It's an Alaska car that's been garaged every day of it's life. Needless to say it's been driven in the rain and snow.
He's not the type to skimp on maintenance and whatever needs to be done is done to the car. It drives very straight and solid, no creaks or any evidence of being abused. The interior is immaculate as well. He's got all of the maintenance records that he'll produce as well.
Below are a few pics of the car, I got to drive it this evening. The flywheel doesn't feel like the stock 1990 C4 Cab I've driven, it revs much quicker.
I know these aren't nearly enough pictures, I'm going to take the car for an afternoon and have my dad take it for a spin too.
He wants $25k, but might knock it down a bit because both the wheels on there, and stock D90's need rubber.

I printed out that PPI list.
My I'm going to check it out next week with pops. The seller isn't in a hurry and I've got the money so there's no sense of urgency.
There's a amber light on the dash with regards to the brakes. Supposedly it's a low brake fluid indicator? The brake fluid is fine though.
Also there's a very slow oil leak, approx the size of a silver dollar over 2 weeks of sitting. I'm not too worried about that though.
I'll try and snap some more pics for your guys, thanks for the responses thus far! I can't keep my eyes off those new Fuchs reps and ducktail spoilers. They'd look good sliding through the snow!

Car isn't listed anywhere and he's only clearing space for his incoming 991, so yea no urgency in financial terms anyways. He'd keep the car but his wife (CFO) is saying otherwise.
I'll keep you guys posted!! Thanks for the responses!

There are many ways interested parties can track that car down, listed or not. All is takes is a cash offer above his $25k ask and the car will be gone. It's happened many times...
