I hope you have winter tires for this. The Alps, in winter are not kind to a powerful car with temperature hardened grip-less summer tires...

Here's a nice graphic where you can see how the spline'd sleeve would work.

it would be a cup or ring with two steps of different diameter splines, the outer step locks to the red output shaft and the inner to the purple "return" shaft. I think you could do it without stripping anything in the main gearbox case, just the centre diff section.

You may even be able to do it by simply pinning the two concentric sleeves (black in the pic) in the standard centre diff together.

I'd be VERY interested in buying one of your splined c4 to c2 parts, if you go that route!!

I hear (and would love to try) that the 6 speed from a 993 goes in pretty easily and really wakes these cars up.

It will still be 4wd at that stage so not too worried..

Need to discuss this in more detail Alex.. Although using the car today as I was driving to Tom I could really feel how a six speed world work well.. The current gearing just feels wrong

Will let you know..though increasingly thinking that a six speed I'd the best way..even though the cost is extreme..

I dropped the car off today with Tom. I'll keep the thread updated as he goes. I've considered colour options and I think the most likely right now is Oslo Blue.. Tom is going to paint up a door he has lying around so I can judge it properly but a few pics below..

I am not even talking about going forward, which I agree is doable (if not ideal) with summer tires on a C4, but rather stopping, where 4WD or not, summer tires are worthless.
Here in beautiful Switzerland, you crash in winter with summer tires, the insurance wont't cover you, arguing negligence on your part.

Tom has sent over some pics of different Oslo's.. current preference is for the darker older shade..althought the other is not bad too.. amazing how much they change according to light..

I like the cobalt

hey you'll need to change the name of the project - what's the atomic number of Oslo?

TBH either of those two Oslo's will look pretty cool, I'd prefer the lighter of the two I think.

From one awesome color, to another awesome color. Win-win.

.
if you pick the 2008 colour then you'll only need to add another "7" to the name
