Default CV joint split boot question

I was working on the brakes on my car and noticed that both rear outer CV boots have split. It had to have happened in the last 500 miles.
Ive reviewed the process for R&R the boots.
Do I need to clean the joints at all? Or just put them back together and run it?

Whenever I do the boots on any CV's I pull them apart, clean all of the grease out and pack it full with the new grease that is supplied with the CV boot kits.

I recommend GKN kits as they are OEM quality and come with everything needed for a rebuild.

Yup, clean em out, inspect all components, repack w/ new grease. It's a nasty job.

Nasty job but do-able. Here is my write when I used the GKN kit on a front boot. Got it from Pelican.

I'm amazed at how often this happens. Why someone doesn't make a rubber boot with a Kevlar fabric core is beyond me. These things should be good for 100k miles....mine maybe last 20k...

Last time this happened, thankfully it went on the right rear which needed a rebuild anyway, so I bought a good used rebuilt unit, and will have my previous rebuilt to have as a spare and just keep swapping them that way. Half shafts are an easy replacement once you've done it once...

There was a good rec for CV of Ocala here. I spoke w them last year and will likely use them to rebuild mine as needed.

Got it done.
My impact gun was able to get the 32mm nut off at the wheel end so I pulled the shafts off the car.
Cleaned them up in parts washer best I could and rebuilt them.
The kit that pelican sent has caps and new circlips. Both of which were too big for my car.

Interesting regarding the parts not fitting. What brand boot kits did you buy?

Also, what is the bolt thread pitch for the 6 (per side) transaxle flange bolts? For the C2, they're 900.067.123.01, and I believe M10x50 cap head fasteners, but if I wanted to buy them from Fastenal to avoid Porsche tax on bolts, I need to confirm thread pitch. I believe the C4s use M8 bolts here instead of M10.

Its the GNK kit that Pelican sells. They also sent boots for the front.

Not sure on the thread pitch.
