Default Adams Rotors any good?

Anyone have any long term experience with using these rotors? I think the price is reasonable and thinking about getting the slotted ones. Considerably cheaper than OEMs. Primary for street use.

I've used them before on a Volkswagen platform and loved them. I ran them for about 2 years (about 35-40k miles) without any issues. I can only imagine the quality hasn't changed in the 4 years since I bought them for the VW.

I have them on my car, and have no complaints. Been on for close to a year now. No track use, but lots of beatings on the street.

Thanks gents appreciate the feedback.

Vagluv, which pads are you using? Any noise or excessive dust issues?

Trying to narrow down which to go for.

I'm using hawk performance ceramic. I like them, but they squeal when I get them really hot.

I did my best to bed them well initially, but I haven't tried shims or lube to get them to stop squealing. I rarely drive it hard enough to hear anything out of them.

I've had c-brakes slotted/cross-drilled rotors on my '91 c2 for about 5,000 miles and have been very impressed with them [no affiliation]. They're zinc coated so, unlike the factory rotors, they don't rust. I've also noticed that they're much less susceptible to heating up and fading than the factory rotors in spirited use. No squeal at all (that was the reason for replacing my existing rotors - they had a "lip" and the squeal was maddening). Best of all, the price cannot be beat - $235 for all four corners, including pads and shipping (they're made in California). See: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...b90eed&vxp=mtr

Nice! I'll definitely consider these as well. Where does it say it includes pads? Thanks for sharing!

As far as I know, the C2 and C4's use the same rotors. They use different calipers on the early cars (pre-92). I checked PET to confirm.

Edit - See Bill V's brake spec table for confirmation - http://members.rennlist.com/1976c38/brakes.htm

Are you sure you had OE factory rotors? Porsche has always required the hubs on their rotors to be anti-corrosion coated. Nor do they squeal when used with OE pads and spiders! Its been the aftermarket crap sold as OEM (by companies that haven't been OEM in 30+ years (Zimmerman -- who do make excellent racing discs but those aren't what you get when you buy from any of the aftermarket suppliers...) or a company (Sebro) that did a small batch of 356 discs for Porsche classic and another small batch for the first/prototype run of the Boxster.

My previous rotors were fitted by a Porsche dealer, so I assumed that they were factory parts, but I guess anything is possible. They were cast iron with the hub part painted light grey. Over time, with many heat cycles and getting covered in brake dust that was subsequently washed off, some of the grey paint came off and the exposed metal rusted - not an attractive look.

My previous rotors only squealed once they developed a "lip" on the outside edge from 50k+ miles of use - when originally installed, they were quiet. My mechanic advised strongly against "cutting" them to eliminate the lip (which you would do for a lower performance car), as he said doing so could throw them out of balance and result in vibration.

I just noticed that the auction link in my previous post doesn't reference pads. Here is an auction with pads: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...item4ad666f906 The price with pads is $260 for all four corners (including shipping).

Contacted CBrakes and they do offer for C4 and slotted only also available for the same price. If I end up with these will be sure to report back.

Thanks again JJMCD!
