Watch out for: Eduardo Baptista
I bought a RL listed 964 RS America 3.8 more then 2 months ago from Eduardo Baptista. He also owns a company called racepartswarehouse.net. I flew all the way from Amsterdam to Miami and inspected the car at Zotz Racing. All good. Great company. Not a negative note there. I then paid the car in full and was expecting to get the title. But i never did. Everything is in writing, signed, with copies of his i.d. and more then 130 emails of correspondence so far. Still no title so far. Eduardo Baptista keeps promising to send it but he has not so far. In the mean time i have seeked legal help. It turns out there was still a claim on that car by Anthracite Leasing, FL. What a mess. I trusted this guy and he took advantage of that. Furious. Be aware of this guy and don't do business with him. PM me if you want to know all the details.

I was a bit afraid of that from your previous post. The devil is in the details. I always ask for an executed title before money changes hands.
Here's a question though: do you have a bill of sale? And do you have possession of the car? Many racecars don't even have titles they are only needed for road register. Strikes me as strange that a leasing company would have anything to do with a 20 year old racecar. Clouded/lost titles can be dealt with by posting a bond, it's almost better not to have it, puts the problem back in his lap to deal with the lien holder. But if he's actively defrauding you and or the leasing co, it's a mess...

I know of the car and Eddy.
Car is reliable and quick.
If anything, Eddy is probably dealing with releasing the lien on the title which sometimes can take more time then expected.. perhaps too much time in this case.
I trust it will be resolved quickly as I do not think Eddy is trying to pull a fast one by any means....

I have all the paperwork signed. Payments confirmed and a contract stating he was entitled to sell the car being the only legal owner and that the car is free of any legal or 3rd party claims. I have the car but no title. Without the title the car can't be shipped. Paying storage already for months now.

I am the owner of Anthracite Leasing.
We are the legal owner of the vehicle and it is titled to us, not anyone else. Mr. Baptista represented to the buyer that he owned the car free and clear. That is not correct. He sold the car without are knowledge or permission, collected the money, and did not give that money to us. Now two months later, we were contacted by the buyer and this whole situation is unravelling.
We have been leasing cars for over 25 years. Not the first time that something like this has happened and won't be the first time someone ended up in jail doing something like this. Feel free to contact me. We will no longer be doing any business with Baptista. I doubt anyone else will want to either.
FYI, I am a long time PCA member and D.E. Instructor.

Sounds like the car is in storage in the US but OP is in Amsterdam. Without a title US customs won't let it out of the country (for obvious reasons). So the OP doesn't really "have" the car.

This MUST be a mix-up of some sort. I find it impossible to believe that the seller, with 3,500 posts here, is any sort of scammer

Maybe he's fallen on hard times, had no intention of this happening, funds came into his bank and the bank have taken it to clear another debt for example, but that does sound unlikely at this point.
