Refitting Bonnet Badge/Crest
Can anyone offer tips on removing and refitting the Porsche hood/bonnet crest?
The rubber gasket is split, so I bought a new one along with two clips.
I can't see how I would get access to the rear of the crest as the back of it seems to be within the skin of the bonnet.

Mine was a right pain to change. One of the studs had come away from the crest. Took a lot of persuading and scratched paintwork trying to grip the stud to get the nut off. So I then had to touch up the paint and leave to dry before putting on the new one.
Putting the new one on proved a bit hit and miss too. I think I finally worked out that the speed nuts self tap on to the studs on the badge (they have no 'thread' on when new). Even by using a screw driver style socket, gently, I thought I had overtightened mine because they got to the point where they just spun as I turned the screwdriver. In retrospect I can only guess that this is to prevent them from being overtightened. The whole episode seemed a bit of a black art but at least it hasn't flew off yet.

I'll add this here because it fits. Not too long ago I watched a Porsche-produced video w/ Hurley Haywood in it, and in that video he said something like "The Porsche crest not only looks good, but it's a perfect place to put your hand when you're closing the hood."
Many have learned (as have I) that this is not correct- the badge will deform if you do this and then won't sit in the gasket correctly. I was able to re-form the arc of the badge and improve the fit, but you can bet I don't push there any more...

I'll add one note: The gasket edges come up around the sides of the badge itself and you need to be sure that they don't slip off before you get the nuts snug. If you're not careful they get caught under the badge and can be damaged when tightening the nuts.
