Is the RS bar 18mm as per this? http://www.type911shop.co.uk/shop/ar...6aid%3D8063%26

Surely the standard C4 one is 18mm?

On my 92 , C4 the rear is 20 mm, did they build them with 2 sizes, at different times ,
TRG in US use to do the rear in 22mm adjustable , I think you may only need the rear one ,
You guys who fitted the H&R front and back, did you ever consider refit the original front SB ?

You need to be careful about the mixing of suspension components. The rs bars are sized to work with a much stiffer spring/damper setup. With the RS or cup spring set they are sized to allow tuneability of the handling, not control sway. So you will find while it is adjustable (3holes) the RS rear bar is lighter than the stock, m030, or C4 bar. The front bar is heavier with five holes.

If you have a stock spring package the RS bars may take you in the wrong direction the h&r may be a better pick. Not to mention quite a bit cheaper.

Early C4's were 19mm rear bar. Later (90 or 91 on) were 20mm. Usual upgrade is a C2 21mm rear bar. RS bar is 18mm but is adjustable so it will go stiffer than it's diameter suggests. H&R bars are much thicker but this may not be relative to the Porsche parts as J Richard above suggests, not sure this is a direct comparison.

My understanding is that the H&R bars were a good upgrade on the C4 and dial out a lot of understeer. I have the H&R's on my C4 with Bilstein HD's and Eibach springs (would have preferred H&R springs but there was a miscommunication at install time...).

The H&R's made the car noticeably more 'pointy' even on the road and felt good when I was pulling 4G at Spa last weekend.... OK so the 4G was just the signal on my phone but they felt good anyway.....!

I think you will find the H&R bars very good for your car with your suspension. Also gives you a good excuse to get in on the adjustable drop link group buy currently going on...
Jack, if you PM your email I will send you a pdf of a good article about handling on the C4. It is a bit out of date now in terms of products that are available, but it might be useful nonetheless.

Hi Jack
I have got a H&R front adjustable bar that I no longer need and also a set of H&R cup suspension with monoball top mounts. The suspension ideally could do with a rebuild as it has been on my car for a few years though.
If its any good please PM me
Cheers
Simon

If you can find a rear H&R bar to experiment with (I don't know if you can buy just the rear bar), you may find a stock front bar and rear H&R is a good balance.

Thanks Simon but it seems it is the rear one I am most likely to need!

Guys, anyone know if the rear H&R is actually stronger than the standard C2 bar?

Yup the H&R is much stiffer, I had the thickest C2 bar on mine before the H&Rs.

As already mentioned by Gary and Alex the H&R is 26 mm versus the 21 mm on the 1990 C2 (later C2s had a 20 mm rear bar). However the H&R 26 mm rear is designed to work with their 24 mm front bar. My guess is that fitting the 26 mm rear with a standard 20 mm front bar could be quite a mismatch?

I've just ordered the H&R set to go on my C2 and I'm blaming you Jack for making me spend more money by starting this thread.

Happy to help Steve ....

Where did you get your's and how much?

I think I am definitely going to get a ducktail too. Dont think it will look right in my colour but will save a lot of weight I think. And that is climbing the agenda again now..
