Pretty interesting. I didn't know this was possible. I definitely like the look of the final product. I guess something like this could also be done w/ a set of D90s or some 16" Cup wheels?
There's actually a company called MemoryFab that will pretty much convert any single-piece wheel to a multi-piece if it's remotely possible, but get your wallet out because it's not cheap by any means. I considered going this route with another wheel I was pretty attached to at one point, but after weighing all options I decided to give the idea up. It's very cool that the OP has these tools and options available to him. I'll be watching this thread

I think he researched those wheels and they ended up not being made from OEM D90s, just manufactured to look like D90s by some company that is no longer in business.

Cool, exactly what I'm doing myself.
I knew someone must have done it before.

Those D90's above I'm familiar with as I've fitted a set of those to a customers Manx street buggy we built.
They are a Japanese D90 copy made as a 3 piece wheel, look exactly like oem but are not.

Paint stripped the machined center and played around last night just doing a very quick rough mask up with a lick of black from a rattle can.
I think having polished paddles and lips would be the go for a backdate but kinda dig the flat look as well, Tonight I'll paint the lip black but just the area where the bolts go which I think might tie in well with the black on the center, mainly the aim is to decide which look I want before doing all 4 wheels.

More ideas, Painted lip with chrome bolts...........bit too much bling for me so painted the bolts black which makes the center look a little larger than it is which is my favourite.
Then on to the car, currently the wheel is a 7.5" barrel and 1.5" lip and I need a 1/2" spacer to clear the susp arm so ideally on the rear I'd have a 6 or maybe 6.5" barrel and a 3" lip making a 9.5 or 10" rim (taking in to account 1/2" for the center thickness)
In all I think it looks pretty damn good.

Very nice! Think you've gone with the best colour option too.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of the whole car and hearing your plans for it

I'm a big fan of small centers w/ fat plus-sized barrels/lips, so I prefer the first color scheme.

Its interesting how people's taste's differ, thanks for the feedback everyone.
Proof of concept is what my intention was so can now start sourcing the parts I need to build a set of wheels, might polish the one I have just to see how that looks but will depend on final color choice for the car..............yes I'm considering a color change
Was considering either viper green or some shade of light gray...........or off white...........or.........well you know how it goes
