Great AMERICAN 964s for sale

Not a very smart selling tactic in my opinion, by lowering it and changing the wheels, the great story of "owned for 23 years by the same lady" becomes questionable. Should have left it alone.

They had cars that were of interest to me before but I didn’t buy from them. I ended up getting mine from a private seller who was transparent and had plenty of records, documented history & provenance to back up the car.... and at a very fair price.

Why do tail light lens crack like that: sun exposure, poor disassembly?
Which is more desirable for the typical potential buyer: fine condition original paint in a common color (white, red, black, silver), or a well done professional repaint in an unusual color?
If original front/rear windows with original fine condition gaskets, it rust in the corners still a problem?
If a 964 has no oil leaks and has never been "resealed", is there a lower value?
How to preserve the paper options label on under surface of the hood?
Thank you

There is no right answer. Investor cars are all about low miles, condition and originality. Drivers can be just about anything depending on buyers intentions. The problem is so many of these cars are hiding bad bodywork and undisclosed accident damage. Some even go as far as to make fake stickers to replace the originals to lead unsuspecting buyers to believe things are original. Many of the 964's on BaT lately fall into this category and people are overpaying for them.
If a car has been resprayed for any reason so long as it is documented and disclosed and not covering up a ton of bondo, it is one thing and dictates value. When a car has been poorly repaired from an accident and sold as original that is a problem and people have been paying strong money that fit this bill. Clearly there is paintwork on the red car and most likely the other as well but that is why it is so stressed to have a PPI done by someone well versed in the 964 and not just a mechanic. Paint readings from all over the car should be performed along with leak down and compression numbers. If the work was done recently it should be well documented if not most likely it was a quick refresh and could be covering a million sins. I see so many cars being resprayed to look nice when they have far more miles and mechanical condition isn't as represented. You could find paint peeling and other horrors later on all depending on how things were repaired.

Funny, that one was posted awhile back, it's been on CL in California and here in Vegas. I think someone on here even looked at it. Must be pretty rough if it's still for sale.

Hi everyone. Just to shed a little light on this, the current seller recently acquired the car from whoever was selling it prior. They informed us it wasn't running and performed a lot of service items to get the car going. There are a lot of details in the ad about this but this is a great car to hot rod or fix back to stock and it is selling at NO RESERVE! If someone is looking for a clean title running 964 that has a very solid chassis that is what the draw is here. No secret that the car will need some cosmetic and mechanical love.
