Does anyone know how rare a Marine Blue interior is? I believe that is what the factory called it, although it looks Cobalt to me. I am planning to do a custom interior and I am debating whether to use my interior or sell it and then use more common cashmere/gray parts since they will be recovered anyway.

You can take the interior out and save the leather and vynil. But usually it's cheaper to source the components from someone that has a trashed interior and reupholster those pieces. And to then sell your interior to offset the cost.

That said- you have to have patience to sell an interior. Takes a while.

The Marine Blue interior option appears to have been popular in some combinations e.g. GPW, like mine.

If yours is in exceptional condition then it would likely find a buyer as it's only original once and someone restoring their car would pounce on it.

That said, Black is by far the easiest colour to redo an interior in, as I did with the Metallic Silver car I sold.

Thanks for the reply gents and I may put it up for sale since it is in great condition, now half the fun will be figuring out what to ask.

Any body knows the partnumber for those (there should be a part number, they have some for everything)

And i've always been impressed by the capacity of the members to find those numbers

I've just completed the Clewett Serpentine belt conversion and since the alternator belt sensor is deleted I'm getting the warning light on the clock. Is there a simple fix to get rid of the light? Jumper across the sensor connector cable maybe?
Thanks.

Funny mine just arrived in the mail today. Nice product.

Yes that would work or you could just remove the bulb.

Cobalt how do you feel about installing the clewett belt which removes the harmonic balancer. Are you changing the crank?

The engine in my RS tribute is actually a 96 993 vram. I will always be a 964 fan but no doubt the 993 received some nice upgrades the 964 deserved. They made changes to the crank so it isn't a concern.

The single RS pulley I had kept twisting the belt. I am pretty sure this won't be a problem anymore. Regarding the balancer, considering a lot of us including myself have replaced the dual mass flywheel with LWF, the same question can be asked. Although I don't see the advantage as a bolt on mod.

My engine parts will be ready in a week, I hope to start a thread soon. I'm expecting depending on power setting selected. in the 325 and 425hp and similar torque to the wheels on a mustang dyno and a bit more on a dynapack. I am building it for more if I chose but don't see the need. I could have fixed the damage back to stock reusing a lot of parts in perfect condition but somehow the "while you're in theres" took control of my brain and my wallet. After a point it just becomes rounding error and why skimp now.

Fair. I hadn't realized you went to a 993 motor. We are doing the clewett belt on the 3.9 build at Dawes. And they are modifying things a bit to make the use of the balancer unnecessary. I'd love to go to the belt on my car for reliability, but no dice in a stock motor if you are going to drive it hard ....and really I've only broken a couple belts in the last ten years, and all due to the tension sensor failing and not due to the belt itself failing. He seems my idler wheel update to a virtually non-breakable older wheel for that belt tension sensor.

Cool. What are they made of? I think I have a bunch of those bearings left over from some of my RC car builds LOL

The 3.9 build sounds interesting. I was talking to Big Mike a while back but he would not divulge anything about the build. I was going to eventually make my car a 3.8L N/A but honestly if I plan to keep up with todays RS's I need the kind of power a boosted engine can offer. It is also a lot less expensive way to get big power. One day when my C2 needs a rebuild i will consider a high revving N/A but the head and crank work will be expensive on a 964. I am assuming you are using all the Ti retainers upgraded springs and all the other good stuff. The ARP parts look like jewelry too bad all of it is hidden. I also went pauter rods vs carillo although my pistons will be made by CP.

We will be rebuilding a 996 Cup car engine as soon as we are done with mine. Should be interesting to say the least.

The pistons are being designed for the motor. As are the rods. Crank is being rejournaled to use Chevy V8 race bearings. Shorter stroke angles, and the pistons will scavenge significantly better. Those are the only tidbits anyone gets for the moment. But it's definitely a fascinating process when you start with "let's rebuild it oem" and end with "why don't we just design a better motor and use your case..." cuz more or less, everything is changing. Working with an engine designer is a totally different thing than working with an engine builder. It's fun.

Kinda like when we did my motor- it went to a race engine designer. So he looked at it and came up with a design solution to the head gasket problem, fixed that and reassembled without gaskets and 70k later it's still 100% dry. As intended by Porsche. He made a couple other changes too. He'd make comments like "i did yadda yadda here so when you do something stupid like take it to a track...when you end up backward, my motor won't hurt itself"

Oh...and the idler wheels are Delrin.

As soon as i can get a broken one - I'll do a diy with pics. I have 100 of them to sell. But i can't sell them if the buyer won't be able to figure out how to mount the thing. For the time being i just use them up here when we blow our out. In a new serviceable one will go.

Times are changing and so much has changed in the past 5 years. looking froward to hearing more.

Delrin great stuff. Although the one on my C2 was a failed microswitch. I have a turntable made entirely from delrin great at dampening vibrations.
