Here's another for you all.... :-)

When we took the lateral(!) cylinder out before taking the engine from the car, the tip of the cylinder was seized to the metal cap, inside the bellows that are attached to the side of the gearbox.
When we freed it, the metal cap came out of the bellows and of course some liquid leaked out.
I got the cap off the cylinder without too much effort, but of course, had to put the metal piece back into the bellows, to stop the leak. Which it did. Pushing it back into the gearbox, it didn't seem to want to go in completely, but it wasn't leaking.
Ive since replaced the gearbox oil and its now dripping from the bellows, not fast, but its wet and i'm worried that the bellows seal must have been damaged when I took the cylinder out of it.
Ive tried to push the bellows gently back in, but it still seems not right.

Photo below. Someone give me some hope....... and not too much abuse about it needing a clean up! :-0

Ive removed the bellows today and have tried to see if its available from Porsche UK, the usual sites in the UK don't seem to list it in the search function.
From those that might have replaced it before, does it just push in and fit, or need assistance to stay in place?

cheers.

I've replaced both of the bellows on my gearbox. It was a tight fit and I needed to use a socket and a rubber hammer to push them in to place. Both parts are listed in the parts manual.

Thanks!
Andrew

I just removed and rebuilt the ABS pump that was filled with the "wax"like substance from the brake fluid (thanks RL for the step by step tutorial).

I've bled the brakes repeatedly using my Motiv power bleeder. I can get a firm pedal when the engine is OFF, but when I start up, after a couple of pumps, the pedal goes soft and to the floor, so I have to assume that there is trapped air in the ABS. While the system was under pressure, 30 PSI, I cycled the solenoids, ran the pump motor and even cracked open the 5 hydraulic lines on the pump.

Is there any trick to bleeding the pump (a thought I just had of possibly bleeding the brakes again with the engine running)

What kind of glue should I use to reattach dash trim pieces like the ones shown below? A couple of them came undone.

Laurent I’m also curious about this as I want to replace mine due to previous owner putting a scratch near the radio. Is it glued on or bolted on?

Can a moderator make this thread a sticky please?

Afshin - It is not bolted on, it is held with some sort of yellowish glue. The left one and the airbag one came off when I removed the carbon fiber overlay the PO installed, so I am looking for the correct glue/epoxy to reattach it.

I would assume a contact cement should do the trick. Especially if the original is yellowish. I have some of these pieces in nearly perfect condition if anyone is in need.

I'd imagine that 3M Super 90 would do the trick.

I would use Yellow Barge glue.

Thanks!

Hi Anthony - I think I should be able to save most of my pieces but I will take a good look in the next few days. Can you please let me know which ones you have available, just in case. Thanks.

I will pull them out of inventory and PM you. Were these aftermarket? The Factory pieces I have say exclusive in the lower corner of the air bag door. They also came with "Turbo S" or "Air Bag" in lettering in the upper right corner of the air bag door. If these were the pieces they were pricey and required the complete removal and replacement of the air bag door. It splits in the middle when the air bags are deployed.

Mine were aftermarket. I must have mistaken your comment, I though you had “regular” black OEM replacement trim pieces, not the carbon fiber ones. I appreciate the offer, but if yours are the carbon fiber pieces, I am not interested as I prefer the look without CF. Apologies for the confusion.

I have some standard trim pieces from my C4 I believe the two pieces one from each side of the steering column but need to check and condition. The CF pieces are in my turbo. I wasn't sure if yours were factory or not.

Question: I have the stock steering wheel for my car and I'm cleaning out the garage...

Is it worth keeping in case I sell the car?
or who cares?

Thanks.
