Hi there!
I've only had my car for a week now and I'm learning a lot.
I've downloaded the US 964 parts catalog from the US Porsche site. Is this the same thing as the PET that everyone refers to?

If not, where do I get a copy and are there other online catalogs/reference sites that I can be pointed to?

Thanks!

That's awesome. Thanks. Very much like the one I've used for my BMW's.

Does one need to drain the oil before changing gaskets for left/right upper/lower valve covers and cam chain covers? Thank you

You can elevate one side of the car and do that side, then the other, but honestly, it's much better to drain the oil and do the whole job with the car sitting level.

Is it ok to just drain oil from the engine case?

Oil from crankcase will drain and, at a slower pace, the oil in the tank will migrate to the crankcase and continue to drain.

understood...will drain the whole lot....have gotten pretty far into my small DIY attempt....about to loosen the engine mount (white arrows pointing...if I loosen these the engine falls?) and AC brackets...do I just place a jack under the engine case to support it?...nothing under the tranny or different for a C4? thank you

Yes, the engine will drop if you loosen those bolts. All you need is a jack stand on the engine, the trans mount will keep the transmission end up. Good luck.

Going with non-heat headers; is there any block of plates for the outlets that heat runs through?

Default oil pressure sender manifold

I spent almost an hour trying to lever the sender manifold out...nearly broke a finger and my back is aching like a biatch....is there some secret way to pull out the manifold from the engine case?

It's very easy when the engine is out. It will be more difficult when the engine is in but not impossible. Apart from a couple of bolts the unit is held in by an O ring.

I can very slightly wiggle the manifold. But there is no sign of oil leakage around it. Was hoping I could replace the O ring but it will not budge/pop out...

Haven't read back in the thread. What is wrong with the sender?

The pressure gauge needle wobbles up and down randomly....as if a screw is maybe loose... I re-tightened all electric connections but still behaves strangely... purchased new OEM VDO sender from Porsche and trying to install by pulling out manifold but it will not budge...guess no choice but to find 24mm crowfoot and try to unbolt old sender...
