964 windshield trim
I'm looking to brighten the door window trim and quarter trim. Was planning to do the windshield trim but, as you know, the windshields (front & rear) have all-rubber exterior trim. I was told by someone that a windshield from an 88 (slightly smaller) can fit with old style seal that WILL accept the metal molding like on the earlier cars. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, if I get a windshield for an 88 with built-in antenna, is the antenna plug same as the 964? Thanks

Can't help for the metal trim, but I used Griots trim restorer on the front and rear windshield seals and its a day and night difference. Went from gray to black. Just prep the rubber trip (safely clean) and then evenly apply. DO NOT get it on the paint, it is vey difficult to wipe off. I'd suggest running a thin layer of painters tape on the paint in the area you are working on.

Another good trim restorer is 303 Aerospace. very simple to use and looks brand new. A few coats built up over time and it'll also stay like new for ages

The guy who told me this explained that a 964 windshield + 3.2 seal (to accommodate metal trim) is too big for a 964 opening but a 3.2 windshield (which is slightly smaller than a 964 windshield) would fit because the 3.2 seal is larger than a 964 seal. Does this make sense or are the dimensions still way off?

That's great to hear Fuch! Have you done this yourself or know for a fact it can be/has been done successfully? I'm not doubting your word, just want to be sure before I buy 3.2 glass/seals/trim. Thanks

Airbag wont make any difference.
They made a 964 with an airbag, and a 964 screen is held in exactly the same way as a 3.2 screen.
The aperture size on all 911 shells is the same.

So for a 964 backdate with metal trim, would 911 541 011 04 be the correct front glass (for the tinted antenna model)?
And similarly, would 911 631 073 00 be the correct rear glass (for tinted, defrost, and upper third brake light)?

The PET has several different front and rear glass models to choose from.

Use the same year screen and rubber.
Then it will fit fine.
86 screen and rubber will fit perfect in a 92 car.
