Default Project Shrek - ABS brain...

Yup... crapped out on me. The one brain that Porsche want over 5000$ for.... 964 618 126 00 or 964 618 126 01 or 964 618 125 00

Anyway, I sourced a used one from my friendly mechanic, to make do for now (inspection early january).

So, the 64K question: is there anyone on this planet that actually repairs these? Mine displays zero corrosion on the connectors or inside.

Between that and the ignition issues, i amwondering of my car is trying to tell me something... or to kill me by a thousand cuts.

You might want to check with http://www.bba-reman.com/us/index.aspx. I tried them, but my abs brain has a broken pin which I cannot find anyone to fix. However if yours does not have a broken pin, they may be able to help.

Ducks - If yours is just a broken pin it might not be too tricky to fix. It's common to have unused pins in big multiway connectors. Might be worth popping the case open and looking at the PCB tracks to find one. If you do locate one, it may be possible to unsolder it and use as a replacement for the broken one. If the pins are more permanent then open up the harness plug and move the wire that would connect to the broken pin to the 'unused' pin. On the PCB you then solder a jumper lead between the unused pin and the broken pin. It'll at least get you going...

There is nothing special about these ABS controllers or the pins. You can find donor boxes for replacement pins on ebay from other (less-expensive) vehicles (or what ^=- he said). On the C2 controller there are two different length pins, not sure about the C4 controller. And if you looked hard enough you could probably find new pins, possibly even gold plated which would permanently solve the corrosion/tarnish issue.

Default C4 ABS Brain

I went ahead and opened mine up as I had already tried checking around and found no one to work on it. I even sent to a shop and they sent it back saying they could not help. Here are some pics, though not great, that show the pins look different than on a C2 brain.

Did you end up swapping out for one of the unused pins?

Not yet. I still need to figure out how to do that. Looks like I have to undo the sealed screws on the bottom to get to the main pin connections. I can see why no one wants to work on the C4 unit.

Good luck with that... I couldn't find a 3-lobe torx driver anywhere (let me know if you do!) and drilling them out was a nightmare.

Tri-wing screwdriver and triangle head screwdriver searches seem to show some tools that might work for those fasteners.

Digging this one up.

I am still running on a replacement unit, and the original is on the shelf.
The people at BBA reman don't answer e-mails.

Anyone have other leads to get this looked at / repaired by a Professional?

I had mine (1990 c4) repaired by;
http://www.autotekelectronics.com/autotek/?Page=Contact
Still going strong.
Problem was water ingress, resulting in 3 corroded pins and a world of pain inside.
Not easy on the wallet but you have the peace of mind that when you want to stop it will.
