Furthering proof that nothing comes easy with this car..
Attempted to bring my car in this morning for the new trans, but the battery was deas. Quick call to AAA ( I really should buy a jump box) and it was back on the road. But by this point I had run out of time, so I had them flatbed it to the shop. Sometimes it feels like ita got nearly as many miles on the back of a truck as it does with me behind the wheel.

Hopefully the 6 speed will be in by week's end.

I cringe when i see tow trucks using belts inside the wheels, hope they didn't scratch your barrels

I've had really bad luck when i had my 964 shipped from the East coast and had to replace both outer barrels

I was wondering when that car would resurface. You bought a very nice 964.

As for the town truck driver, he was very careful today.

Careful yes but the strap is very coarse and does scratch, the lip is very soft as well.

I guess I'll just have to inspect them when I get the car back. Never noticed an issue before. Mine are also powder coated.

This thread is a good example of how you can never be too careful when having your car towed.

Brave man! I would do everything in my power to see that my car isn't anywhere near a tow truck or a tow truck driver, lol.

About the only luck I've had car related is when I'm being towed. Always end up having guys who care and (seemingly) know what they are doing.

It's kind of a shame though now that I think about it. I won't have a strong reference for how different the car feels with the new trans. Considering the cost, I'm hoping the change is substantial

what an awesome thread. didn't get a ton of work done today, but i sure did get a lot of insight for my new to me 964 that is on the way from California right now!

a lot of what you have done has been done by the previous owner (RENN GTS) but i will need to add my flare

Love your perseverance and taste in mods! well done and I'm subscribed for future updates!

Car is back in my hands, and my wallet is significantly lighter.

Leaving the shop and puttering Around town I wasn't really sure I had made the right decision. As soon as I got on the highway it was an ear to ear grin. I must have looked like such a tool. The car simply does not fall out of the powerband anymore. Added bonus is it shifts much smoother too. Considering its a brand new at gearbox vs my 120k mile one, I'll assume it's due to brand new double synchros vs the warn ones in my previous 5 speed. New gears are a little louder but it don't mind it. Car really pulls now and seemingly reva quicker but that could be a placebo effect. Was it worth it, tough to say. But I'm very happy with the way the car performs... For now.

I guess a 3.8 with ITBs is next.

Since you've gone this far, forget 3.8. All the way to 4.0

Just in time for some late spring driving. Congrats! Best part is that you couldn't have picked a better car to dump so much money into!

So in addition to the gearbox we addressed a few small driveability issues.. Mosty the micro switches and the isv. Replaced them all and most of the stalling and cold start issues are gone, even idles better. next up is the air flow sensor, as it's running rich..
