Strange noise "water flowing/boiling" inside cabin
Hello guys,
On my RHD car, every time after starting my engine I can hear this vague noise that sounds like "water flowing or boiling or gargling" in the back behind driver seat.
Does anyone hear this before? I understand that oil tank location is the right back seat, so this could be the sound of oil flowing out of the tank but oil is heavy hence unlikely to make gargling sound.
TIA

Yep, it's the oil moving around and can sometimes happen, especially after the thermostat has opened allowing the oil to flow down the side of the car to the oil cooler at the front.

Do you only hear the noise when the engine is cold? If yes, I would suspect its the engine oil flowing back into the oil tank. What brand of oil filter do you have? Some cause more gurgling noise than others. The Mahle ones seem to be the quietest.

Mine has always made gurgling sounds when running. Part of the car's personality.

Yes, this is perfectly normal. When the car sits, without the engine running, the oil drains from the oil tank into the crank case. What you hear is the scavenge pump returning that oil to the tank, making a splashing/gurgling sound.

I hadn't noticed mine until I took out the rear quarters for upholstery - and then it was pretty loud. I noticed an awful lot of sound insulation gone bad back there - and alot of that had to come out and I didn't replace it - I can hear it a bit now with everything back together - but it's perfectly normal - so all good....

It's particularly noticeable on my RSA since they have less sound deadening, it's actually one of my favorite things about the car. It's a real mechanical device, not one designed in 3D and built by a robot, flaws and all I love it!

Yes it is louder when engine is cold. Oil is Castrol 15W-50 & filter is Porsche. Thanks everyone for responding. I never hear this on my 3.2 that's why I was worried.

No, it's not Amethyst, but a special colour called Cyclamen Metallic. It's a deeper red.
I should get the car back next week after also having some rust repaired and the wheels refurbished too. Can't wait!
