Default 964 still sputters

Does anybody know why my 1991 964 T still sputters? The car sat for 19 years without being started - only 6023 miles. The tank had about 6-7 gallons of fuel, very yellow and bad. We blew out the fuel lines, replaced the front fuel pump (which was clogged), replaced the spark plugs, boiled out the old gas tank and pulled the fuel sending unit. I believe we finally got the trash out of the lines because we inserted a small fuel filter between the gas tank and the front fuel pump. The filter caught trash for a while, but remains fairly clean now and the car runs well, most of the time. On the road, the engine sputters sometimes, but not very bad. I wonder if we need to replace the fuel injectors now, or if we just need to drive the car. Any ideas?

I'll put up pictures when I get the car lined out. The interior smells news and there is still cosmoline on the undercarriage. The car has been stored inside in a climate controlled environment. This car is a dream come true for me. I drove an RS America in the late 1990s, and always wanted a turbo with the wide body. I just need to get it going strong.

Instead of replacing the injectors, have them cleaned and flow tested by WitchHunter.

Is it likely to be the injectors if it only happens sometimes? In my experience they're more black and white than that. A bad spray pattern from one injector is unlikely to make the engine splutter to a degree that its *that* noticeable.
Does the spluttering occur on a transient throttle? Any particular RPM range? Hesitation? Can you replicate the issue at all whilst stationary? Maybe worth checking out the fuel pressure, the regulator and the vacuum side of it. Sorry no answers.. Just more questions

I only got one chance to drive, around the block a couple times, then up and down the highway and back 3-4 miles. The car seems to idle okay, but sputters when I accelerated to highway speeds, and maintaining highway speed. It seemed to do okay at 20-30 MPH speeds around the block before I took it out on the highway.

Hmm that makes me lean even more to fuel pressure side of things. I'd try and get that measured.

It seems to run good if you don't floor it too quick.
