Race Car
My car has yellow h4, non-original headlights, seats out of a 1985 944, non-original upholstery, a c2 rear swaybar, 993 valves and some non-oem springs and reatiners, eibach springs....and then a bunch of other little non-original stuff...la la la...
for me - there may be a couple people on this forum that have cars that belong in a museum, so originality is a big deal - but for myself - my car came with problems, those got fixed, and the car is mine, I have no need to preserve it for posterity - I drive it, I break it, i fix it, and then drive it again - the hood color can be stone chips or bright pink - it's up to me...
sooooo - my thoughts - do as you like - if you like the worn-in look of chipped paint, then keep it - and if you want it to look pretty again, paint it...but - either way - as far as i am concerned, never do anything to the car that makes you want to treat it with kid-gloves, cuz then you wont drive it and you wont have fun....drive it, break it, fix it, and drive it again...

Paint shop got the green light, and we are replacing the windscreen (cracked from a stone chip which was never repaired)...so might as well give it a fresh coat as well.

You could buy a new bonnet and bumper, spray the hell out of it and keep your panels with road rash for the purist if and when you sell!
Personally it's your car, do what you will, there will always be a buyer for which ever you choose to do!
Have sprayed two of my RS's and kept one original, still love all three

No paint shield, now that it is being sprayed, it can be sprayed over and over. No more worries.
Cost is no objection, and have a really good shop working on it.
I am not keen on venture shield and truthfully do not see their advantage. True paint always looks nicer.

until I see a 10+ years old shield that still looks good I'll pass and wait on the sidelines.
When these films came on the market the sellers would say they would not fade, flake, bubble... and they did after a while.
Now they say they have fixed it and it won't do it... well once I see one with a film after 10-15 years that is still impossible to see, then I might get it done.

sorry guys - i too would love to have a couple pics...but my RS aka "Leon" is in the shop.
As soon as he's out, i'll get something up here.
But in short, i only drove her 20minutes a couple weeks ago after it had reached its new home...i bought without trying, 100% trusting my guts and my car man Clive, who's been buying/selling all my toys for the past 6yrs.
Since then, i've been surfing in California, and Leon has been at the shop getting prepped for his new life in Central London. So far the engine has been serviced and new tin all around, original mags refurbed, suspension adjusted and alignement, new cup exhaust pipe, carbon induction and heating pipes, Schroth 6pt Profi II driver harness...and this week new windscreen and front end touched up.
Leon should be out next week hopefully...will be signing up for some track action at Bedford November: no better way to get used to my new wheels than a greasy track

Little update: windscreen removed and no rust not bad for a 23yrs old
We just filled the hole which was used for the external battery on/off external switch - don't want some kids playing with it!
